Ever since he was 10 years old, Emmy® nominated make-up effects artist, Michael Burnett has strived to entertain people through the magic of film and special effects. He started by producing Super-8 movies for local film contests, as well as live haunted house attractions for Halloween. From 1997 to 2000, he created the make-up effects for Universal Studios (Hollywood) "Halloween Horror Nights." An event with up to 16 performances using special make-up effects for 320 ghoulish performers.

Michael has worked on dozens of film, television and commercial productions. He has created a variety of special make-up effects, mechanical puppets and high-end specialty props such as a woolly mammoth and an animatronic sculpture for Industrial Light and Magic. Before starting his own company, Michael worked with make-up artist, Rick Baker on such feature films as Rat Boy, Gorillas in the Mist, and the Academy Award® winning Harry and the Hendersons.

Since forming is own make-up Effects company in 1988, Michael Burnett Productions, Inc. (MBP), Michael has worked on effects for a variety of film projects. These projects range from the modest budget features of the Showtime/Roger Corman Productions of Black Scorpion, Not Like Us and Of Unknown Origin, to big budget studio pictures like Flatliners, Darkman and Universal Soldier. Michael also produced all the make-up effects for the David Lynch film, Lost Highway, as well as for films like Baby Geniuses, Strangeland (starring former "Twisted Sister" lead singer, Dee Snider), the vampire film The Forsaken, and, most recently Not Another Teen Movie.

Michael has also provided various make-ups for such TV shows as "Mad TV", "The Ben Stiller Show", The MTV Music Awards, The MTV Movie Awards and multiple seasons of Nickelodeon shows like "All That" and "The Amanda Show". In 1998, Michael and his team fabricated over 30 walk-around costumes for the "Small Soldiers"' Attraction at Universal Studios' Theme Park in Hollywood. Most recently his work with Universal Theme Parks included set pieces and full character displays for the new "Creature Factory" attraction at the Hollywood park; as well as for the newest Universal Studios Theme Park which recently opened in Japan. The Universal Japan Project included creating the show-area known as "The Monster Make-up Show."

Michael and his team have also constructed various performance costumes and set pieces for the bands KORN, The Backstreet Boys, and Ice Cube.

On-going projects include creating the special make-up effects and creature effects (including various demons and an animatronic doll) for NBC’s soap opera "Passions". Film projects in 2002 film include his directorial debut with the upcoming movie Inhuman. Michael has also worked with comedian Andy Dick to create the character make-up for the first season of MTV’s "The Andy Dick Show".

In addition to all of his make-up effects, Michael's team has sculpted the Disneyland Animated Windows from 1994's Aladdin, to 1999's Tarzan.

Michael Lives in Southern California with his wife Lynne and their two daughters, Danielle and Michelle.
